The April 2026 update introduced what Meta calls proactive, or "Push," intelligence — the AI surfaces information without an explicit prompt, rather than only responding when asked.

Hands-Free Nutrition Tracking is the flagship Push feature. Users can look at a meal and say "Hey Meta, log this dinner." The camera feed estimates caloric and macronutrient content, syncing to the Meta AI food log. Meta has not published accuracy figures, and nobody independent has measured them yet — treat it as a trend-tracking tool, not a clinically precise one, until real numbers exist.

WhatsApp and Messenger summaries are part of the same update: ask Meta AI to catch you up and it summarizes recent messages. Meta has not published where this processing happens or whether it works offline — check current documentation rather than assuming either.

Neural Handwriting is a newer, separate feature: writing a reply with a finger on a flat surface instead of speaking it. It was announced as rolling out rather than confirmed shipped everywhere, and no accuracy figures exist from Meta or anyone independent.

Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics carry the same 12MP camera and 3K video as the rest of the Gen 2 line — Meta has not published a sensor part number, and this is not new camera hardware. These are non-display, audio-first devices: no HUD, no waveguide, no AR overlay.

Meta lists the accommodated prescription range as -6.00 to +6.00 total power — sphere plus cylinder combined — for both models, and multiple outlets covering the April 2026 launch confirm this is unchanged from the rest of the Gen 2 line. Earlier versions of this article claimed both "unlimited" range and a specific ±12.00D figure; neither was real, and they contradicted each other.

Battery life is over 8 hours per charge, matching the rest of the Gen 2 line — Meta has not published a thermal or heat-dissipation design change for these specific models, and no such detail should be assumed.

The Blayzer (rectangular) and Scriber (rounded) differ in frame shape, not in what prescriptions they accept — both take the same -6.00 to +6.00 total power range and the same lens options. Meta has not published lens-groove depth measurements for either frame.

Standard lens materials are supported — polycarbonate, Trivex, and high-index options up to 1.74. Within the -6.00/+6.00 range both frames take the same lenses, so lens choice comes down to how thick a strong prescription looks in a smaller frame, not which frame shape "handles" a stronger prescription better.

No manufacturer documentation describes a prescription-aware AI calibration feature for these models. That claim in earlier versions of this article was invented and has been removed rather than replaced with a different guess.

The overextension hinges, optician-adjustable temple tips, and interchangeable nose pads collectively solve the three primary comfort failures of Gen 1 and Gen 2 smart frames.

Battery life is over 8 hours per charge — solid for a full day of typical use, though heavy camera and continuous AI use will pull that down as it would on any pair of AI glasses. No wear-testing was conducted for this article; a claimed 12-hour test in an earlier version was fabricated and has been removed.

The proactive AI features — particularly Nutrition Tracking and Message Summaries — represent a meaningful step toward ambient computing, genuinely useful rather than demo-only. Neural Handwriting is newer and should not be a purchase decision factor yet.
